alcohol damages the brain that is why i stopped drinking on Lent 2015

Do you drink spirits, spirit?

Let's have a heart-2-heart boys:

Growing up with alcoholism running in my family I had the belief that drinking alcohol (not to mention all illegal substances) was EVIL with a capital "E." ALL OF IT!!! Not even a sip!

That all changed when I went to Spain and alcohol consumption was part of the social and daily lifestyle as well as the culture. I remember the first time I got drunk. It was a hot, breezy day and it was on a fortified wine made from the finest white grapes on God's green earth that are grown on the outskirts of Jerez in Andalusia, Spain....a.k.a. Sherry!!! I was 25 years of age. I had also recently graduated from NYU and on the way to postgraduate studies wherein I would specialize in couples and family psychotherapy at NYC's premier and unrivaled institute: Ackerman Institute for the Family. Eventually further own the line in my career I would get caught up with the world of neuroscience and learn that alcohol is directly toxic to the brain! So at the age of 33 (the exact age of my Lord when he was crucified) I had to make a choice:

¡to booze OR not to booze!

I choose the latter for many reasons. But one of the main is that I am serious about being in a very intimate and mindful relationship with my Savior. Buddhists do not drink (or do anything for that matter) because they believe the mind (in meditation) is what allows them to make a connection with Nirvana (or the vehicle that takes them to Nirvana). Muslims as well come to think of it!

True Jesus the Man turned water into wine yet he also called us to "be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect" (Matthew 5:48). And the bottle WILL let you down, my fine masculine friends! Don't believe me?!

Ask Merle Haggard! Click on his handsome, leathery face and he'll tell you how the bottle let him down!
