“What shall I say of the winter evenings at home, especially the Sunday evenings? Ah! How I loved...to sit with Celine on Papa’s knees. He used to sing, in his beautiful voice, airs that filled the soul with profound thoughts, or else, rocking us gently, he recited poems that taught the eternal truths.

I look more frequently at Papa than the preacher...His eyes, at times, were filled with tears...he seemed no longer held by earth, so much did his soul love to lose itself in the eternal truths.

do you hae kids, spirit?

Here are my ever-so famous Dos and Don'ts regarding parenting:

NAY

  • Child-Centered Family: the child never comes before the spouse. If you do, then say hello to "Empty Nest Syndrome" when the last li'l birdy flies away!
  • Teasing, making fun, comparing them to another child is NOT going to motivate them to do what you want them to do. Don't do it.
  • Fight with mom in front of them.

YAY

  • Spend 15-30 minutes per day with each bambino: Don't give advice. Don't make suggestions. Don't teach. Just do what they want to do (unless they want to rob a bank of course)! If they wanna play legos, play in the mud, fly a kite, ride a bike, tee-pee the neighbors car just do it!
  • Come up with a secret father-child hand shake.
  • When they do something unacceptable, don't yell. Whisper! It's scarier!
  • Create a Morning, Afterschool and Evening routines.
  • Bedtimes: Give them one for a two-fold reason:
    1. Their brain needs the rest; and
    2. Your brain needs a rest from them! Kids are exhausting! Stop lying to yourself!
    3.
